MED purchased these three buildings out of a bank foreclosure in 2010. The properties, having been abandoned by its former owners, had become a magnet for drug use and prostitution in the area. Within six months, MED had completely renovated the buildings, formed and supported a tenant association with the previous market rate occupants, and brought in a number of voucher holding tenants. This mix of market rate and financially supported tenants has created a stable, safe and attractive living environment which has also helped to stabilize the surrounding neighborhood.
